Industry segment TIME

The industry segment TIME (telecommunications, IT, media and entertainment) is shaped by the increasing convergence of the individual sectors: Telco carriers offer their customers media services and internet applications, "Triple Play" and "Fixed Mobile Convergence" are current catchwords in the sector. The competitive pressure in the telecommunications area leads to massive price wars while the commercial models in the media segment are in transition.

In 2010, the German market is influenced by consolidation on the one hand (e.g., takeover of HanseNet) as well as by the further development of new technologies (auctioning the digital dividend), on the other hand. The big players in the market react with strategic and organizational measures to prepare for the competition and participate in the growth. The weaknesses that were covered up by quick growth until now become clear due to the increasing saturation of the markets for mobile radio and fixed network.

There is a need to continuously check one's market position and develop stable business models from trends. New, flexible, "convergent" organisational forms also make a contribution.
